What to Look for in a Rendering Studio

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR - Having a good understanding of your scope of work and priorities is a good start in figuring out your needs and who best suits them. Generally speaking developers go for photo-realistic renderings as they work well for pre-sales and filling up tenant space before the project is completed. On the other end of the spectrum architects are more open to stylized renderings that take more artistic liberty and flare. In addition if you are going through design review or neighborhood hearings, loose traditional renderings work well as they don't make the audience feel like the design is already finished and their input is a waste of time. Select the artist/studio that demonstrates the qualities that you require and follow a few steps.

STYLE – Your designs represent your company and so will the 3D renderings.  Check out the prospective studio’s website and online portfolio.  Do they have a consistent output of excellent work?  Do you like the way they present their work?  If you are active in social media, partnering with a rendering studio that shares their work  when acceptable by the client on sites such as LinkedIn,  Facebook, Twitter, Behance, and Blogs will promote your design to an increased target demographic, extending your reach.

REPUTATION - Avoid the risk of hiring a complete stranger by asking your trusted colleagues for recommendations based on their experiences and your requirements.  Working under tight deadlines and limited budgets, you need someone who can do good quality work, deliver on time, at an economical price, and with as little hand holding as possible.  The majority of our work comes from word of mouth referrals and recommendations from professionals we have worked with.

EXPERTISE - A solid background in your field of expertise such as product design, automotive design or architectural design is what sets apart the talent of trained professional  from vast magnitude of artist with the software and equipment, but not the expertise.  You want a designer who understands the design language; who can identify the important details; who is familiar with materials; and who can thoughtfully fill in the blanks when necessary.  You need a team who “gets it"!

EFFICIENCY - Nobody wants to waste time and money.  Your rendering team should work through the process with you to make it efficient and easy, working with you to develop a professional relationship.  We believe time is money, so with your bottom line in mind and our business costs in check, we focus on quality to provide our clients with value and assurance.

THINK AHEAD – Look at the long term big picture of your business, does the rendering studio offer assets beyond a still 3D rendering?  How will you present your overall vision to investors, city councils, and buyers?  How will you achieve a greater return on investment?  But beyond that, is the artist/studio someone you can forge a long term partnership with? Are they an asset you can count on time and time again to come through for you? Find the right fit for you and your company and life gets a lot easier. Good luck, we hope we get the opportunity to work with you and demonstrate what we are talking about here.
